Special customers!

When I started my business, the sound of my grandfather's (Papa) voice was in my head "Always say what you mean and mean what you say, give a firm handshake to everyone,
and your word to them is LAW"

That's how I continue to run my business, I take nothing personal, and my customer is the
lifeline!

So, I'm trying to get to know them through my interviews! Amy has been with me pretty much since I started my business, just let me say she loves a fish!!

Some customers are really special, some come in and you never hear anything from them again, I talk with Amy once and a while, she's super sweet and loves the beach as much as I do!

So please take some time to learn about Amy, My first interview!!

Introducing Amy....... My first customer interview!

1. Tell me a little about yourself. Name. State. Life status. Interests.

Amy McGurk, still in my 30's
Nags Head, NC
Married 11 years
1 son, Matthew age 8
I work full time for a realty company on Hatteras Island.

2. First childhood beach memory.

Myrtle Beach, SC age 4 I guess, with my 4 siblings playing in the waves and finding lots of conchs.

3. Present beach stories.

I wake up early, around 5-ish and like clock work, slide on my flip flops and cross the street to the beach. I walk 2-3 miles depending on the wind. I have lived in Nags Head since 1996. I try my very best never to take my love of the ocean for granted. I am truly blessed to be lucky enough to be about 100 yards from the Atlantic.

4. How did you first come to love sea glass?

Completely by accident. I found a couple of pieces about 10 years ago. Not really knowing what it was...a friend informed me that I had a very rare piece of pink. I have been hooked ever since!

5. How did you first find my shop Sea Find Designs?

Searching online for somebody to do custom work. When I came across your ice cream cone necklace with a cherry on top, I was instantly in love with your work.

6. How do you take part in saving our environment?

I recycle and take a bag to the beach everyday to pick up trash left by inconsiderate others.

Didn't get to the beach much this week..........

So, I've decided to interview some of my favorite customers too!! Why should the beach peeps get all the attention!

I have some of the greatest customers, they've been buying from me since I first started on Etsy. As I said I'm quite chatty, so I talk to alot of them and what's great is that it makes my job so rewarding. The positive feedback that you get on Etsy is great and all, but when you chat with a customer and learn more about them, it's that much better!!

So, I'm working on my customer interview questions, I've got my first gal all picked out, she hails from Nags Head, SC! You're going to like her as much as I do, so....... stay tuned!!

What the heck am I supposed to do on a BLOG!!!??

So I've been struggling as to what the heck am I supposed to do with a blog! I like to write but I don't think I'm particularly interesting enough for people to check in with me EVERY DAY!!

So I thought, "Other people are interesting!!" So introducing my blog.... Not about me, but about
the interesting people I meet on my daily beach trips!! Bear with me, I got the idea after photographing the first people I met, so it won't be that interesting YET!!

Anyway, every time I visit the beach, the inevitable question is asked of me.... "What are you looking for??!!" I go into a huge explanation of sea glass and it's origins!! Some people have heard of it, some not!!

Today's family... never heard of it..... said with Southern accent!! I am afraid that I've created a monster in the Dad!! After I showed him a few fabulous pieces, he started huntin' like a madman! He was so happy he said because he hates sitting on the beach!! His daughter was very sweet and friendly, so I asked if I could photo them for my blog!! They happily agreed!!

Thanks guys.... wish I found out more about you!
